Tiivistelmä: | The main characteristics of the contemporary competition-oriented strategic thinking are summarized. Four phases in the development of strategic thinking since the 1960s are reviewed. The most important benefits of this type of managerial reasoning are assessed. It is shown that some features of present-day strategic thinking will be obsolete in the future. Among the evolving new trends are mentioned: 1. an increasing change dynamics; 2. the modification of the prevailing management paradigm; 3. the development of even complex management situations; 4. the further development of information technology; 5. democratization. The post-competitive strategic thinking is described in terms of strategy, structure, and culture. |
