Tiivistelmä: | Product bundling, the practice of selling two or more products in a package, is examined in this article in the context of equilibrium theory. Bundling is shown to emerge as an equilibrium strategy of rival firms for its role as a product-differentation device. The article focuses on situations when the primary market of interest is duopoly. The profit and welfare implications of product bundling under oligopoly differ clearly from those under monopoly. When the competing firms can commit to bundling sales, their profits are higher, but social welfare is reduced. |
