Tiivistelmä:The competitiveness of Swiss economy is characterized. The new challenges of the unified European market from 1993 on are described and analyzed. The need for strategic and operative flexibility of Swiss companies is emphasized. It is shown how the strategic options will be changed after 1993. Some of the most important tasks are listed and analyzed: orientation to the customers' benefit, diversification, application of the Total Quality concept cost reduction. An even stronger time competition is considered. The role of a network-shaped location of plants is emphasized. It is shown how company alliances can enhance competitiveness. Some new accounting methods are also recommended.
