Tiivistelmä:America's banking crisis now is both perilous and promising. Perilous because the failure to act will trigger the most dangerous economic collapse since the depression, and promising because it offers an opportunity to rebuild the system. The principles of a new banking system are discussed in detail. In the new system, only "core banks" would have government insurance; money center banks would disappear, and only a handful of large institutions would dominate sophisticated trading and underwriting activities in global markets; industrial companies would own banks, banking would be profitable business with one major condition of entry - enough capital to rebuild balance sheet; the federal government would play a limited regulatory role.
