| Tiivistelmä: | What is the range and the progress of the takeover bid movement in France? Is the reflection of a transitory phenomenon or is it the expression of deep changes within the French economy? Is there a single cause for this movement or instead there are many reasons underlying it? Which particular problems lie at the basis of the takeover practice? An attempt is made to provide answers to these questions. It is shown that the takeover bid mania has no real grounds in France, neither from an empirical point of view, nor according to the logic constituting the basis of this type of operations. The analysis covers all the takeover bids which took place since the technique was launched in France using three economic theories. |
