| Tiivistelmä: | The traditional, centralized variants of production planning and controlling systems, available on the market do not meet the flexibility requirements of modern, customer-oriented production. Demand gets more and more individual character, throughput times should be made shorter. In order to achieve an optimum in capacity utilization, lot size optimization is necessary. In connection with these developments, the optimization of information flows within the production system is also needed. Arguments are presented that all the related problems cannot be solved by decentralization alone. A powerful segmentation of the production planning and controlling system is a necessity too. Some practical guidelines and examples are offered. |
