Tiivistelmä:An increasing number of large mainstream American firms are devoting substantial resources to new ideas - be it child care for their employees, sharing of some portion of profits with those on the production line, or lending a hand to our public schools. But remaking an old culture is an arduous task, and it is not clear if these new ideas will take firm root or will simply prove to be variations on an old theme of patriarchal benevolence. There is something sad about our society when offering two rather than ten styles of ski pants is a radical and bold move. But what shocks us about this is not the variety of ski pants but rather the concept of limits in the name of survival.
