| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on decisions related to granting exclusive (here as: excl.) licensing (as: lic-g.) rights to a technology in foreign markets (as: f-mkt./f-mkts). The decision surrounding excl. lic-g. is based on the consideration of monopoly rents, technology transfer costs and transaction costs. Factors related to the nature of the technology being licensed, the foreign market environment of lic-g., and the characteristics of licensor and licensee firms are likely to influence the choice btw. exclusive and non-exclusive lic-g. in a particular f-mkt. This paper's propositions incorporate the direct and interaction effects of these three set of variables in predicting exclusivity decisions in international technology lic-g. |
