Tiivistelmä: | The variables that influence productivity at the micro level is to be clarified embarking on a continuing, multiyear study of 12 factories in three companies. In none of these companies did the usual profit-and-loss statements provide adequate up-to-date information about factory performance. Certainly, managers routinely evaluated such performance but the metrics they used made their task like that of watching a distant activity through a thick, fogged window. Measurement systems in place at many factories obscure and even alter the details of their performance. |
