| Tiivistelmä: | A scheduling system is described that was developed and implemented at a semiconductor company manufacturing specialty epitaxial wafers. Issues of implementation are discussed and the algorithms are described that form the basis for the scheduling system which was developed. The results of the computational experiments are interpreted. They illustrate that scheduling procedures can be simplified when preceded by a planning stage. They also suggest that the choice of the heuristic should depend on the objective and the product mix. Measures are proposed to characterize the homogeneity in product mix. |
