| Tiivistelmä: | Out of five Canadian universities subjected to an in-depth, qualitative empirical study, the University of Toronto and McGill University have been chosen for a comparison of their strategies of limiting costs owing to decreases in appropriations from provincial governments. The way each establishment operated before budgetary restrictions has clearly affected choice of strategies. Although financial restrictions has forced each university to rationalize its system of resource allocation and to redistribute its resources internally, the strategies adopted have not changed the way of their functioning. Instead, they have reinforced it. |
