Tiivistelmä:It is pointed out that internal services must be run like external services to keep companies competitive. Traditional approaches to internal services are surveyed. Then the market-driven approach is presented as a more effective alternative to those traditionally taken. Internal services such as information technology are becoming capital intensive and massively expensive. Internal R and D (research and development) is providing to be the lifeblood by which corporations must continue to innovate to survive. Some internal services, such as personnel recruitment, are important leverage points. Managers must focus their attention on finding out how to use internal services to improve market share and overall profitability.
