| Tiivistelmä: | Many companies invest in computer systems which fail to do what they were bought for. The firms then decide that they didn't want the system anyway. But the real value of a manufacturing system emerges only when management recognises the kind of benefits it offers: better control of the function, and not substitute management. It many companies the order in which manufacturing modules are implemented is often inversely proportional to their value. Indeed, it's common to find that of all the modules installed, none is applicable to manufacturing at all. Lots of systems operate at a fraction of their potential simply because people don't know how to make them any faster. |
