Tiivistelmä: | Between 1976 and 1989, the number of organizations adopting employee ownership plans increased from nearly 1 ,000 to more than 10,000, involving more than ten million employees. Some organizations have turned to employee ownership to block takeovers; others have found attractive tax or financial incentives in it; and still others have used it to motivate employees. Proponents claim that employee ownership arrests employee alienation, increases motivation, and improves productivity. These benefits, however, are not automatic. Systems based on equity, information, and influence are much more successful than those based on equity alone. The mechanics of successful employee ownership systems is explored and several recommendations are made. |
