| Tiivistelmä: | The perceptions of lenders and borrowers in evaluating projects are distorted when the original price level or inflation rate assumptions are invalidated by unpredictable monetary policy changes. A regime of monetary and price stability is a prerequisite of financial stability. A mandate to maintain the value of the currency was historically the guiding principle of central banks. It meant that their overriding concern was to maintain the purchasing power of the nation's money. |
