Tiivistelmä:To manage its human resource, the organization must be informed about the internal dynamics and about the dynamics of its environment.This involves the monitoring of internal movements and the analysis of external supplies.The internal dynamics can mostly be controlled through recruitment, promotions, demotions, transfers, redundancy and retirement policies.Wastage is the result of individual decisions to leave and hence outside the direct control of management.These interrelated activities should be planned and controlled to achieve a stable organization capable of meeting its objectives.Mathematical models as for example the model based on Markov chains and the use of software packages and computer facilities allow managers to improve the decisions regarding recruitment, promotion and wastage in order to control the number and structure of their employees in different age/grade groups.An example of simulation regarding different strategies in the field of recruitment, promotion and wastage in different age/grade groups is presented.All calculations were made by the use of software package MATLAB.
