| Tiivistelmä: | The paper presents main modernizing influences on restructuring processes in banking and financial system.The most powerful influences come from BIS standards and European banking directives, and from the World Bank's EFSAL approach.While the former two are sources for modernization and sophistication of mature market economies, the later one is attempt to substitute previously socialist coordination mechanism with interim mechanism on the path towards market coordination.New network of financial interrelations would also emerge between government and enterprises, enterprises and banks, and between households and both the enterprises and the banking sectors.Current western developments reveal that transition from banking firm to financial firm in competitive environment calls for regulatory differences between traditional banking activities and more risky market activities. |
