| Tiivistelmä: | This paper introduces an index of intervention activity which can be calculated on the basis of observed data , and which measures intervention activity as the proportion of exchange market pressure relieved by exchange market intervention. The intervention index properties are established analytically using a model of a open small economy with rational expectations , and this index is used to calculate measures of multilateral and bilateral intervention for Canada over the 1975-90 period. |
