| Tiivistelmä: | The author addresses the issue of whether trade has a beneficial effect on long-run growth, within the context of a dynamic optimization model where the investment sector exhibits an initial phase of increasing returns. The author argues that in examining the benifits from trade, the paper goes a step beyond qualitatively demonstrating that opening an economy to trade can enable it to escape the poverty trap and enjoy unbounded growth. |
