| Tiivistelmä: | As a basis for the analysis of the negotiations on photo-sanitary and sanitary regulations, international agreements on the development and use of the product standards are reviewed, including the revelant articles of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade /GATT/ and the GATT Standards Code. Agreements in other international organizations are also reviewed. The relationship between international standards and American standards is then analyzed. Next, the GATT proposals for the harmonization of standards and for the minimization of their impact on trade are examined. |
