Tiivistelmä: | The Information Infrastructure Pipeline model provides a total-system approach to evaluating and planning systems development efforts. As such it can provide a means for realizing the benefits from information process re-engineering, improving connectivity and information access, and insuring the development of useful information systems. It provides a framework for putting into action the notion of managing information as an asset. The pipeline model identifies five information processing stages or functions. Performance at each stage should be measured and evaluated against some explicitly defined performance criteria. Certain limitations of this approach are also considered. |
