| Tiivistelmä: | Until now there has been no attempt to analyse the energy demand of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the literature. First, supply and consumption patterns are reviewed, and, then, based on this analysis, price and income energy demand elasticities are estimated econometrically and by forecast. With respect to the oil products, these countries have recently become major refined products exporters. They also have the potential to become a major world production source of gas in the future as can be seen from the reserve/production ratios. They will remain major energy exporters regardless of their future domestic consumption. |
