| Tiivistelmä: | Some empirical estimates of the income and price elasticities are presented. For Egypt's case only assumptions about the range of plausible elasticity values are available for policy discussions of energy pricing issues but not empirical elasticity estimates. It is shown, that there has been a manifest trend of declining real relative prices for energy products, meanwhile overall per capita consumption has increased. Available evidence shows quite clearly that the consumption is more inelastic both with respect to price and income than commonly held. |
