| Tiivistelmä: | Socioeconomic and energy data are given for Organization of Islamic Conference states. The broad review verifies that increasing energy demands are tied to economic growth and social change in almost linear way. The appropriate alternative for providing a considerable portion of future energy demand in certain energy-consuming sectors is renewable energy sources, those sources originating from the course of the annual solar cycle, and having a short period of renewability. Present state of the art and expected future developments in direct and indirect solar technologies are shown, and fuel supply costs for these technologies, representing mostly the figures in developing countries, are presented. |
