| Tiivistelmä: | The release of some very recent data concerning energy consumption and production has sounded a renewed alarm forewarning the potential for yet another energy crisis in the near future. If the disturbing data are viewed in a larger context which incorporates the efficiency gains in energy use, the environmental issues caused by burning fossil fuels, the current and future prospects for natural gas and nuclear energy, the current and projected future supply and demand patterns for oil, and the increasing electrification of the economy, the march of time should reduce significantly the recently renewed spectre of gasoline lines, selected power outages, reduced working times and other restraints on energy demand. |
