Tiivistelmä:The natural conflict between sales and marketing as two business disciplines often runs deep, according to several sales and marketing executives interviewed by Management Review. The cultural conflict often occurs because of differences between sales and marketing staffs in their customer contact, compensation and function. Sales and marketing, despite the various ways the departments are structured, have common objectives - getting and keeping new customers and satisfying the old ones - that should never be usurped by battles for dominance. The case histories presented illustrate the many possibilities for achieving these objectives as well as the interdependence of the two fields.
