| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the aggregate savings-investment balances in a large group of transitional economies, an exercise which is only possible now because of recent improvements in their statistics. The structure of the paper is following: in the first part the authors consider savings, investment and growth in the transition economies. The second part is about the patterns of savings and investment in the ECE transition economies. The next part discusses the determinants of private saving in the transition economies and in the last part the authors provide policy implications and conclusions. |
