| Tiivistelmä: | Using data from Global entrepreneurship monitor (GEM) this article investigates the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on entrepreneurial activity taking internalization theory as a starting point. The findings show significant differences in entrepreneurial activity between Ireland and Hungary in the opportunities pursued and in the characteristics of people setting up businesses. It is suggested that economic development policies should concentrate on increasing human capital, promoting enterprise development and upgrading the quality of FDI. |
