| Tiivistelmä: | The author states that an influx of foreign-owned banks has boosted competition on the Polish banking market. That competition is now transforming the shape of the sector. The author also believes that the main struggle over the Polish banking market has ended. In future, the State Treasury will probably also sell its stakes in savings bank PKO BP and in agricultural bank BGZ, but this won't change the situation significantly. The author expects that over next ten years most clients will bank exclusively via the telephone and Internet. If it will be so, customers will be able to change quickly and easily, boosting competition still further and forcing interest margins down. The author considers the situation on Polish credit market. |
