| Tiivistelmä: | The author sketches the history and the organizational structure of MITI. He describes shortly the export restraint agreements between the United States and Japan in the steel industry and then gives detailed accounts of MITI programs on new materials and on nuclear power. Accounts of deregulation in the electricity industry and of international joint research programs administered by MITI are given. The author then compares industrial policy in Japan with Germany and makes recommendations for the reconstruction of industry in the new German states. |
