Tiivistelmä:Crises hyperextend organizational capabilities, moving those companies affected into uncharted waters. Relying on employees' and managers' abilities to think quickly is not enough. Plans and practices across functions and hierarchical levels must begin long before an incident occurs and should continue long after damages have been contained. The best prepared companies think about, plan for, and practice responses to a portfolio of crises. These efforts allow the victim organization and its key stakeholders to pull together effectively when an incident occurs. This article highlights a framework for initiating or improving crisis management preparations and offers guidelines for assessing gaps that may exist as well as a hypothetical scenario for exploring the crisis management mind-set.
