Tiivistelmä:Socio-ecological economics has emerged as a new movement within ecological economics that overtly takes account of the sociological and political bases of economic activity as well as the biophysical base. The paper comments on the usefulness of the principles of socio-ecological economics in the light of a recent example of applied social and economic research into contingent valuation (CV) and integrated catchment management (ICM) in the Hawkesbury-Nepean.
