Tiivistelmä:The authors have conducted a case study on an Appalachian bi-ethnic mountain enclave community in western North Carolina to better understand the role of localized dialect accomodation and ethnolinguistic distinctiveness in the historical development of African American English. Historically isolated enclave communities of African Americans have a focal role in helping researchers understand the structure of African American English.
