Tiivistelmä: | In this study, data is gathered on the movement and productivity of elite scientists (henceforth as: e-scnts.) whose mobility is remarkable. E-scnts. are shown to migrate systematically towards nations with large R&D spending. The study can not solve whether migration improves scientists' productivity. Yet, movers and stayers are found to have identical h-index citations scores. Nowadays, United Kingdom (UK) and United States (US) immigrants win Nobel Prizes proportionately less often than earlier. US residents' h-indexes are relatively high. A framework is presented with a key role played by low mobility costs in the modern world. |
