| Tiivistelmä: | This article is the first in a series of profiles of innovative banks. It examines how technology promotes the work of these banks. Istituto Bancario San Paolo di Torino was originally a regional bank and is now Italy's third largest bank. It invests twice as much as other major Italian rivals and is a leader in Europe. Following the partial liberalization of the Italian banking, Sao Paolo acquired banks and automated its services. It will soon have a real time international risk management system. It will set up its own merchant banking system, it innovated its retail banking and tries to enter into corporate cash management. Its location in Turin was disadvantageous, but will be advantageous in the future. |
