| Tiivistelmä: | The years 1984-86 were terrible for Bahrain. Up until the collapse of the oil price Bahrain banking was based on possessing huge quantities of capital. The Bahrain (and other Middle East) banks gave syndicated loans, requiring little expertise. In the last years the Latin American debt crisis destroyed this market, moreover Bahrain suffered enormous losses. Most of the Western banks withdrew or sharply reduced their activity here. Japan, on the other hand is increasing her presence, quickly filling the holes. |
