The biggest spender was the Citicorp, spending almost a billion dollar. But six more banks paid more than $200 million on hardware, software and personnel. This expenditure may not be as productive as thought; 60% of the money go on maintenance. Only cooperation can save costs and duplication. Banks would need long term strategies, but they lack them. |
