| Tiivistelmä: | The structural characteristics of international joint ventures are classified. Prevalent personnel problems in international joint ventures and potential problems that have been overlooked by the human resources literature are summarized. A classification of the different employee groups in international joint ventures is presented and eight different employee groups, each with distinctive characteristics, are identified. A preliminary framework geared at analyzing personnel problems on the basis of open system frame of reference is proposed and directions for future research are discussed. |
