Methods of teamwork and team management are discussed. The Japanese house of quality method is described. The house is outlined as a conceptual map on which an interfunctional team can display and organize the evidence it needs to set targets for design. The process begins with team members identifying the product attributes customers want. The company's performance is compared with that of the competitors. Engineering tasks are determined, choices are evaluated. Advantages of the method are summarized, flexibility is emphasized.
