| Tiivistelmä: | The freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention 1948 provides that workers "without distinction whatsoever" have the right to establish and joint organisations of their own choosing. Despite the clear wording of this provision, its application has given rise to many difficulties. After describing the debates that preceded the adoption of the Convention, its application in numerous countries to various categories of workers is analysed. The problems are discussed posed by distinctions based on race, nationality, sex, marital status, age, and political affiliation and activities. |
