| Tiivistelmä: | A management plan of continuous production is specified and optimized. An optimal control framework is used to solve for the decision variables. An economic interpretation of the optimality conditions is provided. The case study is a management model for a one acre shrimp pond. Biological processes, such as growth and mortality are continuous by nature; however decisions on harvesting and stocking days are taken on a discrete basis. These are strategic-type decisions to be made a few times in a season, while decisions concerning feeding are tactical ones. An objective function is specified and optimized with respect to decision variables. Results for different runs of the model are given and discussed. |
