Tiivistelmä:This study aims to describe, analyze and understand the process of inter-organizational relationship (hereafter as: r-ship./r-ships.) fading in the context of cultural sponsorships (here as: c-s-ship/c-s-ships). The empirical case study examines one 3-year c-s-ship. r-ship btw. the Finnish Museum of Contemporary Art (Kiasma) and a Finnish media company (MTV3). The empirical study reveals that the triggers of r-ship fading may emanate both from structural context and from the situational process itself. Three kinds of triggers could be recognized in the empirical case. The structural and situational triggers of fading affect the development of the r-ship. by gradually reducing the sponsor's motivations to invest and to develop the c-s-ship r-ship.
