Tiivistelmä:One of the major challenges inside firms is how to effectively manage their knowledge (hereafter as: kn.) assets in the context of managing the transfer of technological (here as: tech.) kn. across the firm's organizational boundaries. This paper explores tech. kn. flows and the coordination of kn. activity through use of geographically dispersed cross-functional teams. As multinational companies (MNCs) have increased the volume of tech. kn. flowing btw. their corporate headquarters and subsidiary operations, many large firms are having to face increasing challenges of now transferring more 'softer' forms of tech. kn, being recognized as an enabler of competitive advantage for firms. This paper provides a theoretical review of some contributions, providing some empirical research KM insights, gained from conducting research interviews with functional managers from four UK-based multinational firms.
