The process of introspection that results from gathering and reporting data removes all possible misconceptions about activity levels, efficiency, and effectiveness. For the first time, external reference points from peer institutions are available and provide the context for reviewing performance. Benchmarking provides the key relevant external points of reference that stimulate introspection. |
