| Tiivistelmä: | The objectives of this study are to identify and differentiate the major components in the stand-alone environmental reports and to identify any innovative attempts to communicate green performance. Eight European airlines were investigated. Four main categories of components in the reports are differentiated. Findings show that the units which are used in the fuel efficiency indicator are not the same in the airlines which were studied and on that account benchmarking is difficult. Findings also show that the topics relevant to employee and community involvement exceed the technical data of discharge and compliance-based environmental performance in their environmental policy statements. |
