Tiivistelmä:Sea cruises that are leading and increasing marine tourist service have become a significant part of world tourism. The number of these cruise ship passengers has increased nearly twice as fast as world international tourist arrivals over the last decade. This extraordinary expansion has created a possibility to enter to a wide range of new consumer markets. The paper is an interview study which goal is to analyse the experiential characteristics of this growing phenomenon. The 22 selected respondents discussed the travel experiences and the often limited tourism facilities they were able to access during their travels. According to the interviewees the most enjoyable and important parts of the freighter cruises were the friendships made, opportunities to learn and places visited.
