| Tiivistelmä: | Many people use the term "research and development" or R&D, as if it were one word, referring to one thing. It is not. It is two words, and refers to two very different activities: doing science and doing engineering. What distinguishes the two is their product. The primary product of research is information, disseminated in the form of articles, reports, books, talks, classes, and informal conversations. Any prototypes that may result are of less importance than the knowledge gained by creating them. |
