| Tiivistelmä: | In Western Europe "globalisation" is increasingly becoming a keyword for dramatic change in the structure of the welfare state. In this context the term stands for greater global economic integration via trade, capital and technology flows, but also for growing competition from low-wage countries and for labour outsourcing via foreign direct investment. Globalisation is also occasionally seen as a cause of rising unemployment and thus as a treat to democracy and prosperity in western countries. |
