Tiivistelmä:This paper examines the safety effects of the amendments to children’s sleepwear standards after 1996 when U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) eased up children’s sleepwear flammability standards. Because of the predominant fear of reducing children’s level of the safety, CPCS initiated a national study of child clothing-related burn injuries treated in burn centre hospitals. The survey was made by analysing the burn centre’s data for to determine the safety effects of the amendments to the sleepwear standards. The findings reveal that the risk of burn injury did not increase after the change in flammability standards.
