| Tiivistelmä: | The Japanese economy was initially hoped to make a modest recovery in 1995, but this hope was betrayed later through various social upheavals such as the Great Hanshin Earthquake in January 1995 , abnormal appreciation of the yen and scandals of financial institutions. In particular, the excessively high yen threw a dark shadow on the future of the economy. Domestic shipments of Japan's auto industry posted growth for two years in a row even under these circumstances, but production dropped for five consecutive years due to export declines. |
